CB2 has just rolled out their Kravitz Design collection which includes 21 pieces, mainly pillows, two rugs, a couple chairs, a few tables and a lamp. The collection style is inspired by Lenny Kravitz's travels and '70s design. Its actually not bad, I would rate the collection a B- if we exclude the pillows.
Here is my issue, there are many design professionals that would greatly benefit from a collaboration with CB2 and are actually qualified to provide a fresh collection. Hiring celebrities for design work troubles me. We can bet that Mr. Kravitz didn't actually design each detail himself or produce any furniture shop drawings.
With the extinction of supermodels being largely contributed to celebrities steeling every magazine cover any therefore models have very little name recondition. This might seam a little far fetched but consider what has happened to Architectural Digest, its now a magazine that just shows off celebrity homes.
